Yorkshire stately home – Birdsall House wild elegance bridal shoot

Yorkshire stately home Birdsall House wild elegance bridal shoot. When you first arrive at Birdsall House if you are not greeted by a wild animal of some kind, we’d be shocked! This is a typical North Yorkshire statley home and elegance at its best – the driveway is though a stunning arch of trees with horses grazing either side. When you do arrive at the house, you could be met by no less than 17 resident peacocks just relaxing on the front lawns – it really does feel like the real Downton Abbey!

The shoot was totally inspired by its surroundings – we shot this is early October, so we wanted to incorporate the autumnal colours from the surroundings as well as use the peacocks in a more subtle way, using their tones, texture, grandeur and patterns.

We loved the versatility of Birdsall House as a venue, as you can get married in either the church on the grounds, in the house itself or hold a blessing under the ruins of the church on the front lawn. As well as having the most glorious temple on the hill overlooking the house – which was just a dream for bridal portraits.

Within the shoot we wanted to showcase the animals to show off its surroundings so we planned to use William (a local horse who resides at the stables on the land) – William was the kindest nature horse, who was incredible in front of the camera and all our kit and team on the day – a true professional!

Using dresses from Maggie Sottero and Enzoani, we incorporated the textures and patterns from using feathers, material and flow.

The cake had delicate feather patterns placed onto the pearlised 3 tier cake, topped with a handcrafted stunning floral design by Dominique.

The flower content was created to show how autumn can be bold, grand but in a very fluid and natural way, using grasses, dahlias and foliage. With flowing ribbons on the wild bouquets that caught in the wind, just added to the feel of the shoot. The tablescape had fruit, berries as well as feathers incorporated into it, to compliment the gold crockery and green glasses.
